I hope all of you had wonderful holidays!
A new school classroom is always exciting and we want to do everything possible to ensure our students are ready for a
great start.
The first day for the Schedule A is January 7, Thursday
Some issues that I would like to talk about:
1. School new location: 4490 Cornishon Ave. La Canada.
Classroom_1: Ms. Pang Lao Shi. (Downstairs)
This classroom is also the classroom for extended activities.
Classroom_2: Ms. Wang. (Upstairs)
Classroom_3: Ms. Li (upstairs)
Clssroom_4: Ms. Lin (upstairs)
Classroom_5: Ms. Liu (upstairs)
2. Student Pick Up/Drop Off
If you would like to walk your child to the classroom, you may park your car on the street or the public parking lot inside
the Lanterman Auditorium, and then walk your child cross the street.
If you would like to drop off your child from your car, please make sure that you have the teachers or staff with the
Foothill Chinese School's badges to assist you. We will have our staff or teachers helping drop off from 3:15pm - 3:
35pm only, and 5:15pm - 5:30pm for pick up.
3. The supervision time and break time.
The school will start supervision at 3:15pm and will run until 5:30pm for regular students and 6:15pm for those enrolled
in the third class. We will provide board games for the students during the break.
For the snack, each family will get its turn to bring the snacks. We will post the snack schedule on our website, and I will
email you a snack reminder before class. I suggest bringing snack packs and drinking water for about 50 students.
Sweets and sugar-high cookies are not recommended.
4. Schedule B (extra days) program
Some students have signed up extra days. Please email me if you have any questions.
5. School rules
In order to provide a safe and sound learning environment, establish order, and ensure quality, the Foothill Chinese
School board has agreed upon a set of rules which all teachers and students must abide by. Please see these rules on
the school website: www.FoothillChineseSchool.org
6. SCCCS activities and scholarship
Foothill Chinese School joined the Southern California Council of Chinese Schools (SCCCS) in 2008.
If you have registered your child or children in our school, they would benefit from the activities and scholarship held by
the SCCCS.
We encourage all students to participate in the SCCCS’s activities, and we hope to have more students to competing
for the SCCCS’s scholarships.
The SCCCS will hold its Spring activity on May 2. Please talk to your child’s teacher about this activity.
7. The extended activities
Our third class is based on Chinese culture and is mainly a fun class, not a very work-intensive class. Please check the
schedule for these cultural courses on the school website.
If you did not sign up your child in the third class, and you think your child may be interested in some of these
programs, you may pay $15.00 for two classes per student to enroll.
I encourage your child to be exposed to these fun programs.
If you would like us to assist you to hold or join Chinese cultural activities in your child’s school, please let me know. We
teachers would be happy to assist you.
8. Carpool
Most of our students are from the La Canada and La Crescenta area. If you are interested in organizing a carpool,
please email me and I will let you know which students are in the same area.
